Step Up Silicon Valley

As New Life has worked with the Refugee Community in San Jose, we have become very aware of the poverty issues facing our community. Refugees face innumerable obstacles, and getting to the point where they are no longer living at or below the poverty line is probably the largest obstacle they face in Santa Clara County. Step Up Silicon Valley, headed by Catholic Charities, is an affiiation of government agencies, non-profit and faith-based organizations, businesses and individuals who have committed to work together to reduce poverty in Santa Clara County. New Life believes in collaboration and in helping those in need. So, in September of 2009, the New Life Executive Board approved becoming a partner organization in Step Up Silicon Valley. This means that the church will collaborate and network with other organizations to help those in need, share what we have learned through our refugee ministry, and prayerfully approach new tools and methods to help those whom God has brought to us.
